Synopsis

John didn’t show up to his own birthday brunch. Instead, he’s holed up in his basement, instruments in hand, ready to record a final set of songs -- his would-be goodbye note. But his plans are interrupted by the arrival of his younger sibling, Mark, who’s come to wish him a happy birthday.

What begins as a check-in quickly spirals into a deeply personal reckoning navigating grief, depression, faith, addiction, and the weight of unspoken pain. As tensions rise, music becomes the only way they can truly speak to each other.

Nothing to Write Home About is an intimate, unflinching, actor-driven black box drama with original songs woven into its emotional core. It’s a story about the things we carry and hide, the rare moments when we find the courage to be seen, and the pain of unfulfilled belonging.
